Santos Rosewooda is commonly used as a highly decorative furniture wood as well as being commonly used in Guitar Manufacture.
The wood is obtained from the Machaenum Scleroxylon tree found mainly in Bolivia and can grow up to 100 ft high.

Santos Rosewood is a common substitute wood for Dalbergia Nigra (brazilian Rosewood) which is now a CITES listed endangered species. While not a true rosewood of the genus Dalbergia, the wood offers the look of the endangered species, although not necessarily all of its qualities.
