Ovangkol

The Seventeenth hardest wood in the Timber tones range with a Janka hardness rating of 900 lbf.
Ovangkol is very distinctive due to its yellow colour and brown / black stripes.
The wood is obtained from the Guibourtia Ehie tree found mainly in tropical west Africa and can grow up to 130 ft high.
Our Ovangkol plectrums are manufactured from off cuts from musical instrument manufacturing.

Interesting Facts:
Ovangkol is commonly used to manufacture Guitars as it is a less expensive substitute for Indian Rosewood. Yamaha, Taylor, Esteve, Turner, Warwick, Framus, Warmoth and Alhambra are among those who commonly use Ovangkol.

Ovangkol has beautiful warm tones although its hardness level limits its recommended use to Nylon Strung guitars.
