Jatoba

The eigth hardest wood in the Timber tones range with a Janka hardness rating of 2350 lbf.
Jatoba, is primarily used for flooring, stair treads, ship planking and general building construction. It has a very high shock resistance and thus is perfect for tool handles and sports goods.
The wood is obtained from the Hymenaea courbaril tree found in Central & South America. It can grow up to 90 ft with a large overhanging canopy.
Our Jatoba plectrums are manufactured from off cuts from musical instrument and furniture manufacturing.

Interesting Facts:
Jatoba has amazing medical uses such as the treatment of Athletes foot and cystitis.
Jatoba starts its life with a beautiful orange / red colour, however it will darken with age.

Jatoba is a very smooth, hard and thus bright sounding wood, not only will it create some beautiful crisp clear tones on an acoustic guitar but it also has clean blues / Jazz tones on an electric.
