Blue Magic

Yep, this is really a guitar pick!

I couldn't work out the reasoning behind the stem at first. I thought someone had just bought a coffee 'stirrer' at a motorway service station and tried using it as a pick!

But...it is indeed a genuine pick, invented by Laurent Cohen in Paris, France and patented on Jan 8th 2013. The thinking behind it is that you can easily alternate between using a pick and finger picking by keeping the stem in between your fingers so you can keep hold of the pick yet move it out the way to use your fingers. I love picks that 'think outside the box' and are innovative! Just when you think there can't possibly be anything new, someone invents something completely different! Brilliant!

If you look on YouTube there are quite a lot of demos of the Blue Magic pick. They have their own channel: www.youtube.com/bluemagicpick/ but I've added this video as it shows you how easy it is to change between using fingers and the pick.
